How come your subconscious mind is so powerful?

July 4, 2017 Ken 0 Comments

Good question!

And a simple answer, really. Your subconscious mind is a success mechanism. Its purpose is to drive you, successfully, towards your goals. Whatever they may be. And it does it amazingly well. Another way of looking at it is … it is the ultimate survival mechanism. Its purpose is to help you survive in any given situation. And it is pre-programmed with all the information necessary to make sure you come out a winner.

The genie in the bottle!

You want another definition of your subconscious mind? Okay, here’s a fanciful one, but one that’s as true as any other … it is the genie in the bottle. All through history, there have been stories of the all-powerful genie who can grant you wishes, no matter how stupid or outrageous they may be. And those stories are a thinly-veiled version of your subconscious mind.

Whichever way you like to look at it, the subconscious mind is your greatest asset … or your most treacherous infiltrator, depending on how you’ve been treating it.

If you’re like most people, you spent most (if not all) of your life blissfully unaware of the power of your subconscious mind. But it was programmed anyway, as it must be … but by default. In other words, it took on any programming that happened its way, without making any decision as to whether that programming was good or bad.

The subconscious mind … super-strong, but not very bright

And that’s an important point, because the subconscious mind, powerful though it is (and it is immensely powerful), is not very smart. In fact, it’s remarkably trusting and easy-going (to the point of being just plain stupid, to be honest). It just assumes everything is fine, and all programming is to be taken on board, regardless. It doesn’t examine what comes its way, it just absorbs it. It doesn’t ask is this good or bad, positive or negative, empowering or harmful. It just accepts it, like a blank computer disk.

When you slip a blank disk in your DVD drive, the computer doesn’t examine the files you start to record onto it. It doesn’t study them and then make a sensible decision about whether they’re good or bad, or anything else. It just records them. That’s its job, and it doesn’t know or care about the files, or whether they’re good or bad.

Your mind is like a blank computer disk

Your subconscious mind is exactly the same – it just accepts any programming that comes its way. And then it runs those programs, again and again. And sometimes it will even run them till the day you die. So, for example, if you’ve been told, repeatedly (specially as a young, impressionable child), that you’re stupid and you’ll never amount to much, it’s very likely that you will go to your grave believing that you’re a half-witted no-hoper. Sad, but very, very true.

Now, if you’ve never really thought about your subconscious mind very much this might seem horrifying. And the effects of it can be, no doubt about that. But the flip side is that the subconscious mind, being so trusting and so powerful, can become your greatest ally.

When you consciously program it with positive thoughts and suggestions, it will reward you beyond your wildest dreams. It will take all that positive programming and make your dreams come true. And if you take the programming to heart and repeat it on a daily basis, it’s ready and willing to propel you towards your dreams at breakneck speed.

Repeated, vividly imagined, programming …

But it’s not enough to just blindly repeat a rehearsed success plan, word for word. You have to imbue it with strong emotion. You have to take the time to create a vivid mental image of your desired outcome and experience the feelings and emotions that will come your way when they manifest.

So if you want to create the life of your dreams, you could do a lot worse than follow these few simple guidelines:

Decide on a single main objective, or a combination of several objectives that embody your hopes and dreams for your future. In other words, maybe you really, really want to be successful as a recording artist … but, naturally, you also want to be happy and healthy, and have a great family life as well. Okay, incorporate all those things into the one successful outcome.

Write it down. Keep it fairly brief, but use colourful, descriptive language. And write it as though your outcome is happening now, or has already happened (remember, the subconscious mind is very literal; if you keep thinking these things are going to happen in the future, the subconscious mind will keep them there … in the future)

Read your programming statement at least twice a day. You want to repeat this programming so that it cannot be ignored. Programming is powerful … but repeated programming is ultra-powerful!

It need only take a few minutes, but make this programming time sacred. Do not let anything interfere with it. It is simply too important. Make it your number one priority.

Lose yourself in your imaginings. Remember, your subconscious mind is incredibly powerful, but it is easily fooled. The stronger your emotions when you’re reliving your vision, the stronger the programming. If you do it the way I’m describing, it will never be a chore, it will become the highlight of your day.

Expect success! Generate total and unquestioning belief in what you’re presenting to your subconscious mind. The stronger your belief, the more sure you are of seeing the things you desire become reality.
