Exploring Potential in Personal Development

Ben Pakulski – 21st Century Bodybuilder

Brains as well as brawn!

Ben PakulskiBen Pakulski isn’t your average bodybuilder. He isn’t average in any way, as a matter of fact. He is a highly-educated graduate (kinesiology degree from the University of Western Ontario) and has used his extensive knowledge of biology and kinesiology to redefine bodybuilding from the ground up.

He has always been his own primary laboratory specimen, testing and trying out new theories and practices to see what works and what doesn’t. Early on he recognised that bodybuilding was suffering from being stuck in a rut – guys were training just the way they’d seen other people train (or read about them), and the sport was knee-deep in confusion as to how to train most effectively. Bulking up was a standard practice, followed by a period of cutting back to try to reveal the muscles you’ve hopefully developed. Most of the time, though, the bulking up resulted in massive fat gains in order to gain pitifully few pounds of muscle. And the cutting-back phase too often caused the loss of a fair proportion of that hard-won muscle.

Redefining bodybuilding

None of that made much sense to the enquiring mind of the young Ben Pakulski, and he set his mind to finding a method that would do away with these old-fashioned practices. He didn’t just succeed, he pushed the boundaries of muscle-building way beyond what anyone thought possible.

In the process, he went from a fairly average build to an impressively muscular physique in a few short years. And he attributes much of his early success to Tom Hall, who taught him the correct way to do each exercise right from the word ‘Go’. Peter Chiasson, a health professional with a kinesiology background was also influential in the early years.

Ben Pakulski – always in shape

Ben PakulskiHe hasn’t been slow to enter competitions either; from his first show in 2005 (in which he won the overall title), he has entered many competitions, including several Arnold Classics, in which he has been highly placed, and the 2012 Mr. Olympia, in which he came 11th. Ben isn’t one of these bodybuilders who spends half his time ‘off-season’, out of shape and barely recognisable as a contender. He stays lean and defined year-round, and it’s all thanks to the principles and routines he himself has developed.

His courses emphasise the importance of strict adherence to correct form. It’s okay to go all out to add more weight to your lifts, but not at the expense of correct form. And he emphasises also the great importance of correct diet. You can lift all day long (not actually recommended, by the way!), but if you don’t put enough fuel in the tank, and the right kind of fuel, you won’t get the results you’ve worked so hard for.

Strict form, and detailed demonstration videos

Each course includes videos of Ben Pakulski demonstrating the exercise in the very greatest detail. If you follow his advice on this, you’ll undoubtedly see a difference in your workout. And you’ll feel the difference! You might be lifting lighter (for a while, at least), but you’ll know you’re doing it precisely right. And you can be assured that your efforts will be much more productive.

Ben Pakulski also defines just what it means to train correctly, in terms of time. He specifies how long each rep should take, and how long you should rest between sets. This makes a tremendous difference! This is definitely a case of “It’s not what you do, it’s the way that you do it”!

You will learn how to work efficiently and effectively, and how to promote the muscle-building response that you’re actually there, in the gym, for. Unless you get this happening, you might just as well have stayed home!

You will learn the specifics that will take you deep into the pain zone. It might only be a brief visit, and it might entail some discomfort, but the trip will be worthwhile, you can be assured of that. You will learn exactly how to perform each exercise in such a way that you’re getting the absolute maximum return for your effort, and isn’t that what we all want?

WARNING: This is not for the faint-hearted! If you are still content to kid yourself that training ‘pretty hard’ is going to result in the kind of physique you really want, you’d better save yourself the trouble of going this route. And if you’re scared of a little bit of pain … well, obviously this isn’t for you either.

Otherwise, go right ahead. You’re going to be putting the work in anyway, so why not do it the right way, with coaching from a world-class bodybuilder who’s studied this subject in depth?
