The bad news about your waistline

April 7, 2015 Ken 0 Comments

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, really, but the fact is that there is no quick and simple fix for belly fat. You just can’t spot-fix it with certain exercises, no matter how much you would like that to be the case. The countless infomercials you see on television will tell you a different story, of course, but that’s because they want to sell you a product of some kind. The truth is that none of that is going to take away the fat overnight (or even in a relatively short period of time).

Years of bad habits …

Face it, if you’re carrying fat round your middle, you’ve earned it. Years of the wrong diet, and probably not enough exercise, have guaranteed you the dubious delight of a pudgy belt of lard round your middle. A thousand sit ups a day won’t shift it either. The answer isn’t to ramp up the exercise. It will help, of course, but the real answer lies elsewhere. The short answer to losing that belly fat is you have to undertake a drastic change in your diet. Only by cutting out some of the usual suspects completely (or at least cutting them down drastically) can you hope to reverse the effects of years of bad eating. And you know as well as I do what they are. I’m not going to bore you with the details right here – I’m pretty sure you know most of them anyway. Plus, I’m not a trained nutitionist anyway, so maybe you’d prefer to listen to what they have to say rather than me. But the simple fact is that once you change your diet, and stick to the changes, you’re on your way to shifting that blubber belt.

Combine your new dietary regime with some regular, sensible exercises, done at a brisk pace, and you’re really supercharging your efforts! So don’t waste your time with all that nonsense about the latest gadgets and fads that are ‘guaranteed’ to shift the fat and give you that washboard stomach you want so much. You know as well as I do that, for the most part, it’s a load of … hype.

Decision … determination … ACTION!

Don’t get me wrong, there are some good products out there, of various kinds, and they can definitely help. In some cases they can make a huge difference. But without doubt the single biggest difference comes from only one source – your own decision and determination to make the changes necessary to regain your health. After all, getting in better shape is really just a bonus (I had to stop myself saying “the icing on the cake” … not appropriate!). The really valuable benefit you get from making a few sensible changes is an improvement in your health. And that, first and foremost, is what matters. Everything else is secondary. But then again, you knew that … right?
